Uh, yeah. Let's forget about the template. Bullet points! I'll probably be adding to this post for some time!
- Napstablook is a cartoon ghost like a floating bedsheet blob. See the icon.
- I don't think ghosts are actually dead people, just a type of monster. I could be wrong.
- They're generally intangible. I'm going to say that they can interact with physical things, but only if they actively choose to do so. (In canon they can occasionally be seen with adorable little ghost pseudopod hands.) Thus, unexpected physical contact won't work! EDIT the way I've been playing it has morphed into kind of a combined "they have to think about it" and "it's affected by how much they actually want to touch/be touched". Play fast and loose. Who needs rules when you're made out of magic.
- They cry a lot. Like, by default. Feel free to assume they're crying in any given thread. Also the tears will hurt if they touch you so have fun with that. (Privately I think the acid thing gets exaggerated but it's too much fun, I can't stop)
- Canon is consistent about the they-them pronouns. I am not a person who'll fuss much if you slip up. For that matter, Spooky won't either.
- I'm trying to decide how big they are... looking at sprites, perhaps the size of a small person. They look like slightly taller than the kids? They're a blob of ectoplasm.
- Maybe they can turn invisible? Or maybe it's more like a slow ghostly teleportation. The important thing is being able to disappear and also appear.
Permissions
All that stuff about physical contact is n/a, isn't that nice? On the other hand, while the ghost is impossible to harm physically, they ARE vulnerable to magic, so violence permissions are still a thing. It's okay to fire warning shots or something, talk with me if you want to really get into it. Spooky's a... uh, not really a lover either, but not a fighter!!
A logical conclusion here is that a lot of you guys probably have other wacky magical or quasi-magical shenanigans that we'll have to make up our own rules for as we go along. Get to make up our own rules for.
As for the player, I don't have anything major to tell you about. What fills me with terror is that I don't actually know a damn thing about music. I do know where Google is, at least...
Daily Life
...Because I like thinking about this stuff and having it out there, it's cute.
Job-wise, my inclination is to have Spooky drift around trying a few things with middling success. What in the world kind of job is a ghost suited to???? This was a terrible idea.
They have been placed in room 12. They will be a good roommate! They're quiet and they would never dream of imposing on other people! And since there's no computers or TV, they'll even actually go outside sometimes. They do come with visits from a jerk robot but it's way better than being his roommate. OH GOD HOW DID I FORGET TO MENTION that after meals they will return to their room to just lie on the floor for a while, feel free to join them :|d
They eat, so I'll say they sleep too. The provided futon is of course irrelevant, but out of politeness they will position themself over it anyway. ...Without taking it out of the closet and setting it up. Uh, speaking of the eating, they have a special diet which is currently being sort of quasi-addressed and quasi-handwaved.
Spoilers?
Blooky isn't terribly involved in Undertale's main plot and doesn't... actually know many big spoilers that they could spoil you about. And the biggest one is something they're going to keep quiet for other reasons, how mysterious. They are being taken from after the best ending, though, so they could drop details about what people are doing with their lives in an ideal world. Anyhow, if you're particularly worried, drop me a line and I'll work with you.
